Address, Impact and Path

Address

Proper ball AddressSince most missed shots occur at address, before the club is ever in motion, a proper routine must be established to control the basics of address - grip, posture, ball position, stance width, and alignment.  A teaching pro can help you establish this consistent address routine, reduce the missed shots problem, and develop consistency.

Right

Proper ImpactAs teachers, we find it almost impossible to begin working on the golf swing unless our students have a clear picture of what impact looks and feels like.

It is understanding, and mastering the differentiation between address and impact that is the Moment of Truth where all practice should be focused. Begin with short, slow swings and build on this circle. Allow for no disruption, knowing that a clear picture must be established before execution can be attempted.

Wrong

Improper Impact

When a golfer first stands over the ball, it would seem to him necessary to hit or swing under the middle of the ball, to get it in the air, flying straight. This may be the greatest illusion the golfer faces, because the golf swing is a circle on an incline - not a vertical plane, therefore the golfer's eyes should be directing the sweet spot of the clubface towards the inside qu

adrant of the ball. Sir Isaac Newton's Third Law of Force and Motion, stating ``For every action there is an opposite and equal reaction," aptly applies to the golf swing. Based on this law, the student should feel that he is going to drive the ball down into the ground - and not a little down, but way down. This will get the ball airborne most effectively.
