Eastport Returns as The Valley Club
Eastport Golf Club will reopen as The Valley Club at Eastport. This returning course is located in the north end of the greater Myrtle Beach area, in Little River, South Carolina.
The Grand Strand's hot real estate market has caused about 20 courses to be closed and redeveloped since January 2005. Eastport is the first of those courses to come back as a golf course.
Owner Mel Graham sold the course to Frankie Vereen and members of his family. The course will be operated by JMJ Golf Management, which also operated Cypress Bay Golf Club from 2004-2007.
There are no real changes to the 6,200 yard course, designed by Dennis Griffith. Spring and summer rates are being worked out, but walk-in rates begin at $35. The official Grand Opening will take place in early 2009. Call the pro shop at 843-427-4424.

I too am glad to see the course re-open. Can't hardly wait for weather to warm up a bit and come down from the mountains and play at The Valley...

It is great to have The Valley at Eastport open. It is also great to have it owned by a local family that will take pride it and make it a nice place where people can afford to have a few hours of family fun. I don't get the remarks made by the Myrtle Beach snobs. They were very critical of the course, before it was even open. I will make an effort to avoid the courses they recommend. This time of economic hardships the business community should be supportive and not putting another business down. Putting someone down does not build the other one up. I love The Valley at Eastport course.

Golf Jokes Help Keep the Game Fun
Whether you are treating a potential business client to a round of golf or playing a sociable game among friends, golf jokes can help lighten the mood and make you a great addition to any foursome. While most jokes must be done in good taste and with the right timing, golf can be such a frustrating and unpredictable game that it would benefit all golfers to be able to keep things jovial on the golf course. I played the Eastport course about 12 years ago and enjoyed it. They yardage is ideal for me and now that my wife plays golf (or something like it, ha,ha.) it would be an ideal course for us to play there together.
FYI I live in Stoney Creek, Ontario and vist Myrtle Beach 2 to 3 times per year. I just returned from there last week and played 6 rounds in 7 days...awesome..
See you in March during Can-AM days.
